To help encourage housebuilders and home owners to install a hedgehog highway, the Hedgehog Highway by Timloc has a fresh new look and four colour options for 2022.
The Hedgehog Highway by Timloc was created by one of Britain’s leading building products manufacturers Timloc Building Products, part of the Alumasc Group, to enable hedgehogs to roam from garden to garden.
Despite being one of Britain’s most beloved native species, the hedgehog has seen a huge decrease in population and is now listed as a ‘species of principal importance to protect’ by Natural England. Research suggests that without increased conservation efforts hedgehogs could become extinct in the next 10 years.
With new housing developments taking up their natural habitat, hedgehogs are forced to travel across roads to look for food and shelter, significantly increasing the chance of being hit by a car. House builders are encouraged to plan and install highways in the gardens of new developments to enable our spiny friends to roam more freely.
The Hedgehog Highway frames a 13x13cm hole, the optimal size for a hedgehog, indicating the hole’s purpose to the new homeowners and avoiding accidental obstruction.
