Hedgehog Rescue In Louth Gets Ready For Spring

Date Posted: 03rd March 2023

Hedgehog Care based in Louth is getting ready for a busy spring and is the latest charity to receive a £100 donation from Timloc Building Products.

Elaine Drewery, owner of the Lincolnshire hedgehog hospital started looking after sick or injured hedgehogs back in 1980.

Elaine comments: “It all started when I accidentally disturbed a hedgehog and her babies in the stables. The mother ended up moving her hoglets to a different nest but unfortunately left one behind.

“So I took him in to look after and I was completely hooked. I ended up calling him Wilfred Prickles and he became my first rescue. The rest is history.”

Currently Hedgehog Care have 40 hedgehogs on site being treated and fed ready for releasing during the milder temperatures of spring.

Elaine added: “If you want to encourage hedgehogs into your garden, installing a highway in your fence or gates is extremely simple but very effective. The donation given by Timloc is very much appreciated and I understand it was generated from sales of their Hedgehog Highway which is wonderful.”

Issy Cooke, Marketing Executive for Timloc Building Products commented: “It was such a pleasure talking to Elaine, she is extremely knowledgeable. We are pleased we were able to help as Elaine solely relies on public donations to carry on her amazing work.”

The Hedgehog Highway by Timloc is easy to install and perfectly fits round the purpose-made hole for hedgehogs to clarify its objective and help avoid accidental obstruction.

Available in four colour choices: Black, Brown, Grey and Yellow and in single or multi packs.

Because hedgehogs are classed as vulnerable to extinction, work conducted by hedgehog charities across the UK is crucial and the reason why Timloc pledge a donation from every sale of a Hedgehog Highway.
