Timloc Donates Hedgehog Highways to Howden Town Council to Support Community-Led Initiative

Date Posted: 17th June 2026

Timloc Building Products, has donated 180 Hedgehog Highways to Howden Town Council, supporting a growing community initiative in Howden.

Plans for distributing the Hedgehog Highways will involve collaboration with the Friends of Howden Marsh Nature group, a Town Council initiative where volunteers, Councillors and Council staff work together to maintain, protect and enhance Howden Marsh Local Nature Reserve in East Yorkshire.

Further opportunities to engage the wider public are also being explored, including events such as the Howden Show, where a dedicated stall would help raise awareness and distribute Hedgehog Highways to local residents.

The initiative has already sparked valuable collaboration within the community. Councillor Howard, a leading member of the local Men in Sheds group, has offered practical support by coordinating volunteers to assist residents who may be unable to install Hedgehog Highways themselves.

Sarah Boggitt, Chief Officer and Responsible Finance Officer at Howden Town Council, commented:

“Howden Town Council is pleased to support the Hedgehog Highway initiative as a simple and effective way for residents to help protect local wildlife and improve habitat connectivity across the town. As soon as we were approached by Timloc, we knew we wanted to be involved.”

Georgia Fry, Marketing Executive at Timloc Building Products, commented:

“We are delighted to support this community-led initiative in Howden. It is fantastic to see groups and individuals coming together with a shared goal of protecting local wildlife. From community organisations and events to hands-on volunteer support, this project highlights how collaboration can make a real difference in creating safer environments for hedgehogs.”

Timloc looks forward to seeing the initiative develop and hopes it will inspire further community-driven projects that make a lasting contribution to wildlife conservation.
