Supporting a vital cause, one step at a time.
Back in March, Timloc hosted a charity bake sale in support of two members of #TeamTimloc, Elle Thompson, Multi Skilled Operator and Josh Risebury, Warehouse Operative, as they prepared to take on a 25.6-mile hike around Ullswater in the Lake District National Park for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The bake sale was a resounding success, raising an impressive £372.
On 6th June, Elle and Josh, along with Elle’s brother, his girlfriend and their cousin, embarked on this incredible challenge.
The group set off from Dalemain Mansion, heading to Pooley Bridge before continuing along the Ullswater Way route around the lake and finishing back at Dalemain Mansion, completing a total distance of 25.6 miles.
The team completed this epic challenge in an impressive time of 10 hours and 38 minutes, with three well-deserved pit stops and a lunch break along the way.
The weather was a little unforgiving, with rain for most of the morning making conditions underfoot quite slippery.
Elle commented:
“This was definitely a challenge, and we found it quite hard towards the end, but we all supported each other. Because we were doing this for Macmillan Cancer Support, we were motivated to keep going and complete it for such an amazing cause.”
Josh commented:
“I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us both during the lead-up, throughout our training, and on the day of the walk itself. The encouragement we received really helped us keep going, and knowing we were raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support made every step worthwhile.”
The grand total raised so far by Elle and Josh is £2,100, which is a huge achievement and we hope this will help Macmillan continue to provide vital support and care for people living with cancer. No one should face cancer alone.
On behalf of everyone at Timloc Building Products and Alumasc Group plc, we would like to congratulate Elle, Josh and their friends and family. You should all be incredibly proud of what you have achieved, and we couldn’t be prouder!
