Timloc Building Products: Proud Member of the Construction Inclusion Coalition

Date Posted: 04th March 2024

Timloc Building Products, part of Alumasc Group plc, has furthered their commitment to helping improve equity, diversity and inclusion across the construction sector by joining the Construction Inclusion Coalition (CIC).

The construction industry plays a pivotal role in Britain’s future, employing over 2.9 million and contributing significantly to the economy, however it unfortunately lacks diversity. Currently, women comprise only 15% of the industry (with 2% on-site), 6% from ethnic minorities, and 6% with disabilities.

This limited diversity hampers the industry’s ability to attract a broader talent pool. To address this, a collective effort is necessary through active collaboration we can retain, attract, and recruit leaders from a wide range of backgrounds.

The CIC, formed by leading construction organisations, aims to amplify the impact of individual diversity initiatives through collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and co-creating solutions.

Members of the Coalition are encouraged to implement the “Built on Better Pledge,” a set of guiding principles outlining seven key actions to address equity, diversity, and inclusion:

  • Inspire – collaborate to inspire future construction leaders.
  • Listen – survey internally for equity, diversity, and inclusion, then address identified issues and barriers.
  • Share – generate and distribute resources within and outside the construction sector.
  • Support – promote a healthy, collaborative workplace and uphold a comfortable whistleblowing process.
  • Educate – educate ourselves, colleagues, and the industry on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Measure – commit to benchmarking, tracking, and sharing EDI data internally.
  • Report – annually assess EDI progress, publish a report, and outline further action plans as a coalition.

Kay Lloyd, HR Manager of Timloc Building Products commented:

“We look forward to being part of the CIC a dedicated force for driving change and influencing the trajectory of the construction industry’s future. This resonates harmoniously with our core values and aspirations. At Timloc, we proudly maintain a balanced gender split among our employees, with management levels reflecting an equitable distribution as well.”
