Timloc Goes Behind the Scenes at Hedgehogs at Home Rescue

Timloc’s Hedgehog Highway doesn’t just help hedgehogs move safely between gardens, every purchase also supports hedgehog rescues and charities.

Recently, Timloc Building Products, part of the Alumasc Group plc, visited Hedgehogs at Holme Rescue in Holme on Spalding Moor to see first-hand the dedication, care and expertise that goes into protecting one of Britain’s most vulnerable species.

Issy Cooke, Senior Marketing Executive at Timloc Building Products, spent the morning with the rescue, learning more about hedgehog care and the tireless work that goes into rehabilitating these animals. She met with Elaine Snowdon, founder of Hedgehogs at Holme Rescue, and Sally-Jane Marsh, a volunteer who has been supporting the charity for three years.

The rescue also has strong ties with Market Weighton Rescue, run by Elaine’s friend Ruth Dowson. The two rescues collaborate closely, sharing resources and supporting each other to give sick, injured, and orphaned hedgehogs the best possible chance of survival.

Each hedgehog that arrives at the rescue has its own unique needs; whether recovering from a road accident, injury from garden machinery, malnutrition, or illness. Volunteers carefully assess every admission, providing warmth, fluids, medication, and round-the-clock monitoring until the hedgehog is fit for release.

Issy Cooke commented:

“It was amazing to go behind the scenes and see the hard work and commitment that goes into caring for these hedgehogs. No two admissions are the same, and the amount of time, patience and expertise required is incredible. It’s inspiring to see how much difference the rescues are making.”

Alongside the visit, Timloc has donated £200 to Hedgehogs at Holme Rescue and Market Weighton. The donation will go towards purchasing a new microscope, an essential tool that will help spot parasites and provide more effective treatment for hedgehogs in need.

This support has been made possible from sales of the Hedgehog Highway by Timloc, a simple but effective product that allows hedgehogs to travel safely between gardens to find food, water and shelter. With hedgehog numbers in serious decline across the UK, creating connected habitats is more important than ever.
